hi there! first of all, thank you for taking your time to look at my little blog. secondly, as this page is so cleverly titled, here is a little bit about me. my name is ash, short for ashlyn, and some of you may know me from my old blog with one of my best friends, ana. to tell you the truth, i am not very committed when it comes to things like this, but that blog got me through some tough times and since it was for both ana and i, i couldn't rightfully take it over for my personal enjoyment. hence, truths behind the lies was born. here is my opportunity to expose the reality that is being a teen (which will mostly consist of me casually ranting about my life).
moving on, here are twenty random and not so random facts that might help you know me a little better :)
1. i absolutely despise cheese. can't stand the stuff. same with yogurt. yuck.
2. i have a thing for music, which is why i have a page dedicated to my playlist, which you should definitely keep an eye on since i will be updating it as my life changes.
3. i am currently a junior in high school, and in case that makes no sense to you, i'm sixteen.
4. i have a dog who is constantly dirty but i gotta love her anyways :)
5. i'm pretty great at giving advice about things but i never follow my own advice. call it laziness, but you know how it goes.
6. last year i went to five concerts, again proving my point about my obsession with music.
7. my freshman year of high school absolutely sucked at some parts (sophomore year was a bit better but eh), so that was another motivation behind creating a new blog.
8. i live in california, and plan to attend university here as well since it's hard to leave once you've lived here for so long.
9. i am trying to stay slightly anonymous with this blog but i get the feeling one of my friends will figure out it's me and then have to read this disclaimer that i swear to never post names (except for ana, but that's it)
10. like any teenager, i prefer to be alone at times, so those times are probably when i will be posting on here... depending on if i can get this on my phone, maybe i'll be posting on a more regular basis, but no promises. (lol @ me because i made this blog a year ago but now i'm back on it because i felt like it)
11. i love food. (but see no.1)
12. i am sometimes/basically a "tumblr girl".
13. sometimes i just hate capitalizing things, but sometimes it makes me ocd so excuse my inconsistency.
14. i probably won't be inconsistent because that also makes me ocd.
15. i am not actually ocd but i am paranoid about some things. (another thing being that i change stuff a lot)
16. my birthday is june 14. just so you know :) (this might explain why i'm so inconsistent... geminis)
17. i get my driving permit in december and i am honestly so excited to be able to drive, even though i don't have a car and will basically just be driving my sister around because my mom won't want to :/ it is what it is. (update: i have my license and i was absolutely right about being my sister's personal uber but i kinda sorta have a car so i can do stuff which is pretty great)
18. some of my favorite stores include pacsun, hollister, victoria's secret, nordstrom's, target, and h&m. i would say my style is kind of relaxed, and if you're interested in what i wear let me know since an ootd or ootw page definitely is not out of the question (plus maybe i can get some outfit inspiration since as the school year progresses sweats seem more and more appealing #fightschoolstylelaziness)
19. i honestly don't like the number nineteen and i don't even know why. (as of 1 year later: i'm leaving this because i find it funny but true)
20. one of my favorite mottos is "not everything is as it seems", which is where the title of this blog came from. hollywood makes your teen years seem so glamorous and wonderful, peer pressure makes you put on a fake face to pretend like you're happy, and i'm sick of pretending to be happy all the time, so welcome to the truths behind the lies.
